Programme 01

Education

The means to learn, offered with dignity.

Every person should have the means to learn. We invest in education so that learning is within reach, and so that those who learn are met as partners in their own progress, never as objects of pity.

Why it matters

Where flourishing begins.

Learning is where flourishing begins. A person who has the means to learn gains more than knowledge: they gain a way to shape their own life, and to help others shape theirs.

That is why Kamal Foundation invests in education. We want learning to be within reach, and we want those who learn to be met as partners in their own progress, never as objects of pity.

How we work

How we approach education.

Every programme follows the same principles. Here is how they show up in this one.

  • Compassionate

    Start with the learner

We begin with the person who wants to learn and what stands in their way, not with a programme we already have.

  • Dignified

    Learning as partnership

Learners, and the people close to them, help decide what is needed. They are partners in their own progress.

  • Rooted

    Close to home

We work with local people on local needs, and we stay long enough for learning to take root.

  • Transparent

    Money you can trace

Where the money goes is always easy to find.

What it looks like

Classrooms and places to learn

The work is set where people learn together: classrooms, and the community spaces around them.

How we look at it

Three questions we ask of this work.

Means, dignity and flourishing: the same three questions we ask of everything we do.

  • 01

    Means

Is learning within reach of the people we work with?

  • 02

    Dignity

Are learners treated as partners in their own progress?

  • 03

    Flourishing

Can they build on what they have learned, on their own strength?

Help learning reach further.
